My review of: Doctor Strange.
The story follows Strange as he loses his ability to move his hands properly, and he tries every form of medication in the world. When it doesn't work, he becomes desperate and tries a more arcane method. Now, let me just be frank, I'm a Doctor Strange fan through in through. This is easily my favorite marvel movie. But just because it's my favorite doesn't mean it's getting the special treatment because there are some serious issues in this film. First, it draws a very obvious parallel from Ironman. The villain is another cliché henchmen. The BIG baddie is thoroughly disappointing, and there's no final battle. Just Strange annoying Dormammu until he agrees to leave and withdraw his servants from Earth. Yes, it was funny seeing Strange getting killed over and over again. No, it was not funny seeing arguably the most powerful being in Marvel and now the most powerful hero in the MCU get his ass kicked for 10 whole minutes while saying "Dormammu, I've come to bargain." Now, on to the good things. Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange was the perfect casting choice, he embodies Doctor Strange brilliantly. Tilda as the Ancient one was brilliant as well, and I wasn't expecting her to be much. But what this movie does best is the visuals. The gorgeous cinematography, the cgi was brilliant, the epic mind bending visuals of the dimensions were gorgeous to look at and the psychedelic dream sequence Strange has is one of the best visual effects I've ever seen.
My verdict: a visually stunning movie and one of the best marvel movies ever made. However, it lacks an original story, and falls victim into the now cliché "Marvel Formula" which is wholly disappointing. It's a B- from me. #doctor #doctorstrange #benedictcumberbatch #marvel #comics #mcu #infinitywar #arcane #magic #movie #cinema #film #theater #review #witchcraft #warlock #sorcery #like #comment #follow #followtrain #amc #mtv #surgery #infinitystone #eyeofagamotto #ironman #robertdowneyjr #art #illusion
