This is the second vintage of the @PearcePredhomme
Chenin Blanc. This striking and sublime Chenin from the industrious duo of Nicholas Pearce and Will Predhomme plus their captain, Radford Dale winemaker Jacques de Klerk, have turned out a vintage with rock salt-like grip and a melon rich goodness. Wiser men than these three were not always able to balance wild South African west, ultra-phenolic and ripe Chenin Blanc with raging acidity, but here the twain is traversed.
From a producer leading the charge towards the modern and the altruistic Bierzo future, this is 100% mencia is from from seasoned vines that average 55 years-old. The naturally curated arrangement of dusty plum and wild yeasty aromas are like melting savoury cubes of dried fruit and sweet herbs into a pool of mild tannin. Though the acidity is somewhat tame - this wine takes rusticity, plants its roots, and it then grows into a 21st century red!
