American toad at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site.
's Learn to Camp program was a great way to spend the weekend at Keji, with lots of little surprises like this American toad rusteling through the leaves right by our fire circle. Adult American toads will eat up to 1,000 insects per day! To drink, they absorb water through a section on their lower abdomen known as a 'seat patch'. These incredible little creatures have been known to live up to 40 years!
