Yesterday I met a little puppy for a health check. Concerns were raised regarding the place of purchase. Sadly this puppy was from a puppy farm, meaning she would have been born in squalid conditions and lack anything normal needed to cope in a home environment.
As evidence suggests puppies from puppy farms often develop serious behavioural concerns and disease. This poor girl was stained with urine and filth, trembling and has been terrified of everything. With time and support she will improve.
From a mild and gentle exam (with lots of treats) I was concerned she had a very loud heart murmur, the vet agreed.
She will get all the support needed to prevent behaviour problems exacerbating and will be closely monitored for heart disease.
We need a ban on puppy farms and we need it now. Campaigns work tirelessly with very close success. Check out @pupaidofficial
