12. According to brain scans, sugar is as addictive as cocaine (Forbes) and can cause major cravings, leaving you wanting more and more and more! We’ve all been there, and it’s a hard cycle to get off of. Start slowly, pick one or two "surgery" items listed above and cut them out of your life and work slowly on cutting them all out. Recognise what kind of person you are - can you have the occasional surgery snack/meal or do you just need to go cold turkey and not give in for 30 days plus!?! This is a big factor in being successful. And there they are - I hope you have learnt something new or have been reminded of a little nugget of knowledge you've forgotten. I know how it feels to watch your friends get pregnant on a “normal” diet and you’ll see others around you be able to get pregnant easily on frankly a sh*t diet, including alcohol and drugs. It’s unfair, but it’s life. The sooner you accept that’s not going to be you the less struggle and heartache you’ll have. We all have different genetics, and yours is what has lead you here. Don't compare yourself to others - it's a waste of time. Be mindful of what you're eating. Find a diet that works for you - start with (as much as you can) organic, real food. By doing this, you’re giving your body the nutrient dense natural building blocks you need to rebuild and support the necessary functions of your reproductive system. Through a clean diet, you can take control of your fertility and promote the natural production and balance of your hormones, a healthy menstrual cycle, egg development (which starts three months before ovulation), embryo development, implantation, and gestation. #Repost @mymindful_me ・・・ “3. Mindfulness acts as a buffer against the depressive symptoms associated with discrimination. A self-report study conducted at the University of North Carolina measured the level of discrimination experienced by participants and also the presence and/or severity of their depressive symptoms. Participants also completed a questionnaire that measured their level of mindfulness as a trait, which is characterized by a conscious awareness of the present. The results showed that the more discrimination participants experienced the more depressive symptoms they had. It was also found that the more mindful people were, the less depressed they were. Finally, and most importantly, the findings suggested that mindfulness might be a protective factor that mitigates the effects of discrimination on the development of depressive symptoms. That is, although discrimination was associated with depressive symptoms, the association became much weaker as mindfulness increased. So, it appears that practicing mindfulness may be one way of preventing the onset of depression!” https://positivepsychologyprogram.com

Two things I do everyday: 1. Go to the beach, whether it’s to swim, surf, or just a walk with my dogs I make sure I see the ocean at least once a day. I’ve always been obsessed with the ocean (i can’t imagine not living near the surf), something about the salty air really helps to calm and soothe me. I also find that my skin clears up once I have dived under the waves. The other thing I am really making a conscious effort to do is not answer calls, texts or emails when I walk my dogs to the beach every morning and afternoon. As this year got busier and busier I found myself working as I walked and treating it more as chore (when it used to be something I just loved doing) it’s only been in the last 2 weeks that I really realised how much stress was impacting me and causing my PCOS to flare up. So I made the decision to be mindful and present on my walks to the beach and it’s made SUCH a difference 🙌🙏🐶🌊🌴 2. I drink tea everyday! I used to drink mostly green tea, but now I LOVE to mix it up with dandelion (a great substitute for coffee!!!) detox tea ( @pukkaherbsaustralia do a really good one that not only tastes amazing but also helps to gently cleanse and detox your body/ liver.... all pukka teas are amazing if your trying to find one that tastes good but is still packed with health benefits) and finally spearmint tea (which is thought to help lower androgens and possibly help with acne #signmeup haha!!!) I would say I drink 2-4 cups a day of herbal tea and have found cutting out coffee super easy as I usually just replace it for a chai, tumeric or dandelion latte with almond milk ☕️🙌 Anyway this mug is the best because I really do love sea and tea 🙌💘
Online shopping fail at its finest. I was online and saw these two knitted, monogrammed Christmas stockings on clearance. “Only three dollars each!?” I thought to myself. Heck yea!! What a deal, right?! Well, it was a deal until I went to pick them up at the store after I bought them and saw they are only 8 inches long. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ oh well, cute ornaments for the tree, I guess. Spencer said we could fill them with pennies or M&M’s - that works too.
Why have I waited so long to try this out?!? 🤷🏽‍♀️ I seriously think I feel it working... like... forreals! 😳 I’m using it this cycle pre-ovulation. A year ago, these three little lines changed my life. I was scared at first, I didn’t know if I was ready. But then I was excited. I pictured my life with this little person and I knew it was what I wanted. And even though I never got to meet them, let alone hear their heartbeat, I’m forever thankful for the short amount of time we had together. Losing them has made me a better, more appreciative & mindful person. And while I wish I would’ve learned this lesson in some other way, I accept my reality. I’ll always wonder who they would’ve been, and what they would’ve become. But I take comfort in knowing that they’ll always be my baby and I’ll always be their mama 💖💙
#Repost @markhymanmd ・・・ While it is true that we need real, whole, fresh food to live a healthy life, we also need things like movement, connection, meaning, and purpose. Feeling good isn’t just about what you eat. Even if you’re eating perfectly, you might feel not-so-great about your relationships. You might need a supportive community. You might feel unclear about your work and purpose. When you take out the bad stuff and put in the good stuff, you create balance, and your body knows how to create health from those ingredients.
#Repost @mymindful_me ・・・ “2. Being mindful can improve your working memory Working memory is the memory system that temporarily stores information in our minds for further recall and future processing. Many studies have been undertaken that suggest a strong interrelationship between attention and working memory. van Vugt & Jha (2011) undertook research that involved taking a group of participants to an intensive month-long mindfulness retreat. These participants were compared with a control group who received no mindfulness training (MT). All participants from both groups first undertook a memory recognition task before any MT had been providing. The second round of a memory recognition task was then undertaken by all participants after the month’s training. Results were positive – while accuracy levels were comparable across both groups, reaction times were much faster for the group that had received mindfulness training. These results suggested that MT leads to attentional improvements, particularly in relation to quality of information and decisional processes, which are directly linked to working memory.” https://positivepsychologyprogram.com
Gluten-free porridge oats on the couch - it’s too early 😴. Cooked in unpasteurised goats milk with a table spoon of grass fed unsalted butter - melt this down & let the porridge cook away. I added a teaspoon of cinnamon, vanilla and honey. Oats isn't something we have loads of, because (like other grains and legumes) they contain antinutrients which contribute to leaky gut - cause inflammation, weaken the immune system, and trigger my autoimmune issue. Oats are also often contaminated with gluten from contact with other crops, so we always buy "gluten free" oats.
i’ve been putting off posting this post (for 2 months), cause it sucks.⠀⠀ in october 2016, we decided to start our journey to try to conceive. we knew it was going to take a bit longer, but didn’t know what the journey was exactly going to look like.⠀⠀ my periods have always been sporadic + there’s never been any consistency. after my annual appointment in 2017, the doctor wanted me to get testing done, but i couldn’t get myself to schedule those tests. fear, pride, + so many other emotions got in the way.⠀⠀ instead, we took the year + tried things on our own - we changed our diet, tried different vitamins/supplements, working out, etc. ⠀⠀ so, october 2017 came around & it was time for my annual appointment, i was putting it off hardcore. my husband came with me to my appointment & we chose to begin the testings.⠀⠀ i was pricked, poked, & diagnosed with PCOS. i was told i need more testing to see what would need to be done next.⠀⠀ this year has been the hardest year & yet one of the sweetest. i’ve learned how to communicate better, deal with my sadness better, love my husband better, & lean on Christ better.⠀⠀ here’s to continuing to try, pray, & hope. 💛

This is me a year apart... I was 20lb heavier, had very irregular cycles, TTC no2 with no luck, feeling bloated all the time, was a size UK 14-16 and getting to a tight 14. In June I took my life back in my hands and did something about my health. I lost 20lb in about 6-7weeks and managed to fall pregnant twice although they both didn’t make the end of the 1st trimester but it’s still an improvement from nothing. I read that once you hit 40years old about 90% of your eggs are chromosomally abnormal so I guess I still have 10% off good eggs I need to hit. So here’s hoping round 3 will work. The hardest thing about falling pregnant and having an MC is my weight hasn’t changed much in the last few months but I have managed to maintain the weight with the products I’m using. I know I need to increase my exercise too help burn more fat. Having the right mindset is so important. I know it is and I know I have to kick myself up the butt to get started. At least I know right. Just need to take action :) #weightlosstransformation #weightlossjourney #pcosweightlossjourney #pcosweightloss #pcosfighter #ttc #ttcaftermiscarriage #ttcwithpcos #myjourney #mumlife #mumblogger #mummyblogger #2maxihealth
