Mental illness is very real. Its power is heartbreaking, numbing, frustrating, infuriating and sometimes scary. If you have never felt its wrath whether directly or indirectly, you are one of the few lucky ones.
Only a small amount of people in my circle know the magnitude of how mental illness affects my family and my life daily.. but I can say with experience that the lack of resources/support and the stigma are a huge problem. This needs to change. Thanks to @logic
for creating #1800
and using his platform to shed light on mental health & suicide. It's not an easy thing to do. Whether in dance or music, it's so easy to do whatever is 'sexy', 'cool' or 'hype'...But no one talks about real, human struggle.
As an artist, the way that I make sense of the world and my environment is by using my craft as an outlet. This piece was definitely difficult and scary to tackle, but I would like to thank my dancers for committing whole heartedly to the process. This meant more to me than you will ever know. 🕺💃: @dcsoulchild1

Sometimes it's not about what you say or what you do. Simply standing beside someone, giving a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen can make a huge difference. Thanks for watching ❤❤❤ xo
