I've been encouraged by the words from my comrades regarding my (what probably should have been internal) plein air vs. studio debate. I feel as though my previous post may have implied I was opposed to plein air now or that I have nothing left to learn from it. This is far from the case. I'm stupid, but not that stupid. I think I just wanted to open up about my affection for studio inventions such as this WIP. Even my best plein air starts are fussed with in the studio...sometimes to the point where I can't tell what was a plein air start and what was invented. I've just never been a purist. The memory, mood and feel of the place are of equal (if not higher) importance to me than "the place." I do find it mildly amusing though that not 20min after I posted about my recent conflict with plein air painting, the always supportive @bluereview
reposts an image of mine of a late Spring WIP from Western NC...reminding me how imperative it is that I continue to work outdoors. 😬
Let it all serve as a reminder that we just need to paint. Everything else will sort itself out.
