The first bar I ever went to in San Francisco was @abvsf.
A year later, I’m still visiting ABV very much on the reg because I can’t get enough of its knowledgeable bartenders, excellent cocktails, and relaxed neighborhood feel. So of COURSE I’d be excited about its upstairs counterpart, @overproofsf
, a rotating bar concept with courses of food and accompanying cocktails. I was lucky enough to visit Over Proof’s last iteration, Lágrimas, named as an homage to the first few hundred drops from a mezcal still. The food courses by Collin Hilton were delicious (another chestnut tamal with charred sweet potato and peanut mole pleeease 😍), and the five courses of cocktails accompanied the eats beautifully.
Pictured in the gallery are the Ernesto (blanco tequila, prickly pear, maraschino, lime, grapefruit), the Clarita (minero, curaçao, dry vermouth, lime), and the Mañinita (mezcal, lime, passion fruit, fino, and Campari).
