A late and rather boring dinner for me tonight! But I'm super happy as tonight I finally went back to play tennis. I've loved tennis since I was a little'un but haven't played since I moved to London 5 years ago! I've joined a 5 week coaching programme for intermediates and was absolutely terrified that I wouldn't be good enough and the other people wouldn't be nice. But I absolutely loved getting back out on the court and can't believe I stayed away so long. The other guys doing the course were all really lovely and so funny and I think I may even make a few new friends 😊Putting yourself out there really does pay off ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Powerband Lunge Variations⠀ ⠀ Today’s exercise video demonstrates a series of lunge variations with a powerband targeted at SPORTS PERFORMANCE 🏃⚽🏀🎾🏒🏈🏉. They can be incorporated into your leg day 💪 or used as a quick but challenging workout or be even when traveling 🌏. All you need is a band...and something to tie it to!⠀ ⠀ Powerband lunges:⠀ ⠀ 1⃣ FORWARD & BACKWARDS STEPPING LUNGES - performed with a weight (slam ball) on the working side shoulder to increase load and stability challenge. Using the powerband down the middle as a guide for alignment challenges linear strength and stability of the working leg and single leg stability in the stance leg.⠀ ⠀ 2⃣ ALTERNATING PLYOMETRIC LUNGES - every trainer loves alternating plyometric lunges, especially in circuit training. Utilising a powerband around the waist allows you to direct your force into the ground backwards and push your body forward on each lunge. This is more comparable with running as oppose to just bouncing up and down.⠀ ⠀ 3⃣ REVERSE LUNGE W KNEE DRIVE & TRIPLE EXTENSION - similar to the exercise above, the pull of the band allows you to drive backwards into the ground. The knee drive and triple extension specifically trains the sprinting pattern with the stance leg driving into the ground, and the swing knee driving forwards for maximum acceleration!⠀ ⠀ 4⃣ BULGARIAN LOADED LUNGES W HIP FLEXION PATTERNING - this is a great exercise to further improve your running speed. For this exercise, the back leg is on a bosu ball to further challenge stability (but can be performed on the ground or on a step) and the band is wrapped under the working side foot and over the shoulder. The resistance from the band increases the load on the front leg at the beginning of the movement. However, as soon as your foot leaves the ground, the pull from the band then assists hip flexion as you drive up, to promote speed through the hip flexion movement pattern!⚡🏃⠀ ⠀ Give these exercises a try if you’re on the go traveling or want to mix-up your program.
