I have a five-hour layover in Bangkok before I fly to Myanmar and I think this is the perfect opportunity to lay down an update; Phase 1 is complete. Per the status quo, social media is often a terrible reflection of what life is really like when backpacking or really just life in general.
I caught monsoon flu and had it for over two weeks while in India. My stomach also didn't agree to well with the gastronomy of the country, a common pitfall for travelers to the region. Starting from Nepal, I worked my way down to northern India by foot, bus, train, and finally plane to Sri Lanka. Some of these photos are what I was able to see and what I was up to.
I was able to volunteer at an orphanage for over a week, mainly teaching English but also some manual labor. I also booked a yoga retreat for one week in Dharamsala and coincidentally, was able to see the Dalai Lama speak in person, it definitely changed my life but I still haven't had enough time to reflect on it.
The pictures listed here begin the (1) Taj Mahal, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life, the (2) Jama Masjid, (3) my yoga studio, (4) the view from where I volunteered, (5) New Dehli at night, (6)Goa beach with a cow (they're everywhere), and finally (7) Sigiriya, a famous ancient rock jetting from the Earth in central Sri Lanka.
There's so much more to say about all the history that I've seen, read, and experienced than what is in these pictures but I've already said enough. Phase 2 begins now and will take me to the end of the year.
Always here, always now.
