We shared our Thai sawtooth coriander in the garden with an unknown neighbourhood soul and in the truest spirit of closing the circle of life he brought us sweet potato plant cuttings.
Until The Baker came to Singapore and started growing them in her own garden few years ago she did not know they were edible!
Delighted to have them simply stir-fried with garlic at the end of a long bake day few days ago.
Are you incorporating enough local greens in your diet?
Here are some that The Baker and her family have lightly blanched and doused with soya sauce or stirfried mostly with garlic and sometimes red chillies:
Chye Sim, Kang Kong, Kai Lan, Bok Choy, Dou Miao, Malabar Spinach, Bayang, Sweet Potato Leaves, Cekur Manis, Moringa Leaves, Gongura/Roselle leaves
What are your favourite local greens? We don't have to be suckers for baby spinach, kale and smoothies.
There are so many regional options for receiving micronutrients like Mg (magnesium) and Fe (iron). #sweetpotatoleaves
