Not a lot know that I take my fitness seriously. For more than 20 years, I have had the highest respect for sports science graduates and physical therapists. They have opened my eyes to a whole new level of understanding when it comes to being “in shape”. I’ve learned the importance of injury prevention and proper strength and conditioning. Unfortunately the term “functional fitness” has and still is an overused term in a lot of fitness centers. I am very happy and thankful for centers like Kineticore for allowing me to understand and reach a level of fitness I could have never imagined. Backed up by scientific approach, aesthetics has taken a back seat to focus on being stronger, wiser, faster and more balanced. These shots were taken 4 months ago after a long break. For the 1st time in my life I decided to document and study my body’s movement, form and improvements. At my age, investing time to be physically fit and balanced becomes such an important aspect. I’d like to keep challenging myself to see how far I can go. Making use of the best compound movements, the bench press. I’m a big fan of the compound exercises: back squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, etc. etc. Compound exercises provide many benefits. 1) large number of muscle groups used per exercise 2) lowering the amount of time you need to spend in gym. More muscles targeted in less time 3) provide for the greatest anabolic hormonal response 4) not overloading specific joints with isolated movements. Functional and sport specific movements with compound exercises 5) by reducing the amount of time spent on weight training by increasing efficiency, you can spend more time on other components of your fitness: flexibility work, core, cardiovascular, etc. #canyonsfitness #exercise #compoundexercises

The purpose of absorbtion movements are to learn to absorb force.. the way you start the process is the way you should end it.. to many times athletes as they jump drop that leg down to catch rather then absorbing. An anology that you might understand what I’m saying is, if I throw an egg at you are you gna catch it hard or try not to crack the egg.. now think of your knees as the egg and land soft..

I discovered this cool machine while i was training my morning client at PSC 2.0 today. I’m not even sure if I’m using it right but i figured out movements that work the anterior side of my legs. My hip flexors and tibialis was on fire after 3 sets. However, this an athlete that has gone possibly years of no accurate treatment on what he has been told was shin splints, potentially not enough treatment, and a runner that runs several miles per week. So taking all that into consideration, and being that Thavee has had on, let's just say the more support the better to provide him that ongoing support during his rigorous 16 miler training run today. Shin Splints can be a misdiagnosis in several cases of lower leg issues. More accurately, most cases are soleus issues stemming from adductor and deeper glute issues.
