Hmm, how am I feeling about SONG's Black August Bail Out in Durham tomorrow?! In the voice of a random 3rd grader I heard on a podcast: "this is gonna be lit!" To further honor Black August, we are having a People's Feast on Thursday 5-8 @
Forest Hills Park. 🤗😋 (Contribute at bit.ly/blackaugustwishlist)
Due to the court and social services support we provide, 6 out of the 14 Black Women we bailed out in May have had charges completely dropped. Everytime someone goes to court we get our bail money back so we can continue to do this action again and again. We know the road to abolition is not clearly paved but we believe it is our duty to figure it out. (Continue donating at bit.ly/blackaugustbailfund)
We know our world is heavy with harm and trauma and we must be held accountable to the pain we inflict upon one another.
We know jails and prisons don't reduce "crime." They only cause more harm. We know the prison industrial complex is modern day slavery and if we do not do something about it, we collude in its creation. I am so thrilled (see photo) and honored and humbled to be in this work.
It's the Black August Bail Out y'all!! [Brown gender queer person cheesy smiles while holding a newly acquired ordination card. Text reads "this is gonna be lit!"] #queer #genderqueer #queerliberation #SONG #SONGfam #BlackAugustBailOut #EndMoneyBail #abolition
