This is Tyrone Tuten. Yesterday, I pulled into the BP off Jones Ferry Road with a fully blown tire. I was on my way to bring my 3 year old son to pre-school, when it flattened and had left my cell phone at home. Without hesitation, Tyrone walked out of the BP (he had seen me circle around and pull into the gas station), asked me for my jack, wrench, spare and changed my tire - without asking for anything in return. I asked him if helping me was going to make him late to work and it turned out he was waiting outside of the gas station hoping to be picked up for work (at this gas station in particular, laborers without steady jobs get up early and wait outside the gas station, hoping a lawn care or construction company will stop and pick up an extra worker or two for the day). My husband has a small lawn care company but can only provide few of the hours that Tyrone needs to make an honest, decent living.
Tyrone is a man who helped a complete stranger with her young child all while risking missing an opportunity to be picked up for work. He chose to help someone else in need with no promise that his own needs would be met. Now it's my turn to try to help him.
Tyrone is mechanically inclined and also is a laborer ready to work hard. If anyone you know is looking for a good, strong, hard working man who doesn't drink or do drugs in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area, please contact Tyrone through Facebook. Thanks for reading this, and thank you Tyrone, for showing me true selflessness and kindness. It truly makes our community and world a better place. 🙏 #ChapelHill #Carrboro #Selflessness #Love #Kindness #HeavenSent #BetterCallTyrone @thenewpulsefm @g105radio
