Today I met a sea lion. He made his way up Huanchaco beach. I'm sure it's highly unusual for a sea lion to turn up here, and like me, it was probably the first time a lot of locals have seen one so as expected they swarmed around him taking photos. I think I might have been the first person to spot him and I snapped a quick photo from a safe distance as he came out of the water, but other ppl are not so respectful of an animals space. A couple of ppl tried to touch him even, he bared his teeth and they didn't try again.
It was obvious he was looking for a place to rest, he probably wouldn't have come to this spot if he wasn't feeling tired or maybe unwell. But he couldn't really relax with all the people crowding so climbed up onto the bar deck where I was having a drink. The guys working there did block off the area so ppl wouldn't bother him anymore which was good. I don't know what happened after that bc I left. I hope he was OK. I wish I could have done more to make sure he was OK, hopefully he just needs a nap and maybe a pisco. #peru #huanchaco #sealion
