*This description is loosely based on the original one used by the San Diego urban kibbutz, thank you SD!
Working together to create a Jewish Intentional community or a mosh•butz in close to Sydney proximity.
We will build a sustainable multi-generational community grounded in the Jewish calendar and Jewish values. Singles, couples, and families of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. We envision a community that feels like home: warm, familiar and heimische (Yiddish for warm, homey, down-to-earth, and familiar). As a community, we will •celebrate Jewish holidays and take these opportunities to gather together with our friends, families, and neighbors;
•provide creative Jewish programming and education for children and adults;
•Create business opportunities for ourselves to be self sufficient and self reliant, pursuing different avenues of info structure development.
The community will have •a large common area including an industrial kitchen and eating area that can accommodate 2-3 times the number of all occupants. •a large outdoor area for flexible use: gatherings, picnics, etc.
•enough acreage to build self standing houses for 50 families, as they wish and see fit. •a plan will be discussed where it will be balanced out what is the expected communal involvement vs private participation; options to work outside as well as participation in the community building projects and running of them thereof.
We aim to create an environment where we not only survive but thrive and give back to the larger community and environment!
