The Reality of Running Blog Series Day 78: Snow? SNOW EXCUSES hahaha! . On the last mile – when my legs are tired and my lungs are burning – I think about everything that has pissed me off or has stressed me out and I get really angry and I run faster and I run harder. . I do this because it motivates me to push and it also helps me relieve any sort of stress or anger I have. Running is my outlet and it releases so many endorphins that I am almost never mad when I get home from a run. . I really love running so much especially before the day starts. It sets the tone for the day. It gets my heart rate up. It wakes me up. It energizes me. It to helps me think clearly and it gives me time whether it is 20 minutes for 2 hours – it gives me time to think about my goals for that day, for that month, for that year. . I could never give back to running what it has done for me, but I do recommend it and I do tell people it will change your life IN SO MANY WAYS. #BrittIsFitRunningBlogSeriesDay78
Yet another one of my “I am dying” faces. After hitting arms with a workout that I haven’t used in a while, I had day two of my running program. Today was working on the “quick twitch” muscles, speed, and running form. It was a 1 mile warm up followed, 6 400M runs on the treadmill at my 5k pace and finished with a mile cooldown run. It’s kinda crazy because I never imagined that I would consider running a mile a warm up or cool down. The Reality of Running Blog Series Day 77: . We were hesitant today because of the wind and cold. I debated on waiting until later and then I said to myself – just give it a whirl. If you go a half a mile – it is better than nothing. . @elsaisfit and I ran 3 miles today in the wind and cold and she LOVED IT. She was chasing leaves. She was running a 6 minute pace at times. It was actually enjoyable and felt so good that we did it. . We got close to the house and we were at 2.93 miles and I knew I had to run at least 3 for #30forthekids, so we pushed to three and did it! . 3 miles is a lot in weather like this so I am proud with getting it done. . In 2 weeks my friends – we start the journey – A VERY BIG JOURNEY. Not only am I training for my second full marathon – I am training to qualify for Boston. . Since I’m trying to get serious about running, my boss put together a whole running training plan together for me. He’s ran the Boston marathon twice so I’m pretty excited about the program. Last night was supposed to be an “easy” 3 mile run (easy meaning 10:30-11:30 pace). We went a little further and faster than expected but oh well. - I also got to run with my little bro @mwsilverstein for this first time. The Reality of Running Blog Series Day 76: . Amidst the paper writing, the house renovations, the holidays, the work load, the stress…. . I still make the time to run. Why? Because it makes me feel good and it relieves some of that stress. . One thing that has been holding me accountable these last few days is the #30forthekids challenge that I am doing with @1stphorm. . This is a go fund me that was setup: https://www.gofundme.com/30-minutes-for-the-kids - the campaign is donating $30.00 and you are to take 30 minutes of your time for 30 days. . The 30 minutes must consist of 30 minutes on the stair master OR 100 pushups + 200 situps + 300 air squats OR running 3 miles. You are to do one of these workouts for 30 days & if you don’t you are to pay $5.00 for missing a workout. . I will tell you something – through all that I am going through, this go fund me has shed some light on life for me. One of the best things about cooler weather? I don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to squeeze in a #longrun before it gets crazy hot out. Today, I slept in, took my time eating breakfast and even had coffee! I didn’t hit the road until after 11. The Reality of Running Blog Series Day 74: . I don’t have a gym membership or a treadmill or a stair master, so it is either run outside or not - & I am almost ALWAYS DO! We did just that today. . This morning, even in the snow covered town - @elsaisfit and me decided to go for our run!! . #30ForTheKids has kept us accountable and motivated! . Elsa did so well in the snow and tried running through all of the field around our town. . I really enjoy running in the cold and even the snow. super fun Ted Corbitt 15K yesterday in central park! this race was soooo fun even though it snowed hard the entire time! I felt very confident and consistent and comfortable in my splits and was able to run the entire race with no stopping or walking. can’t wait for the Fred Lebow Half next month!
