My first book on the day I put on the corset, which any good practitioner can not have, was "Theory and practice of yoga" by BKS Iyengar. The Yoga Bible. I remember I was thinking "I will go to him when I grow up" I believed in it, with my heart. Too bad that I was only 13 years old.
In Iyengar Yoga the waiting times are nothing short of exhausting, it requires a discipline of at least 8 years and 2 years of waiting to go to study at the mother institute of Pune.
The nearest Iyengar school is an hour's train and subway ride from home.
Well, I sign up! Once a week I spend a whole morning going to practice with my teacher.
Immediately I was told that I must practice the basic course for the first period, starting from the basics, always. After two months they tell me that I can access the courses with senior teachers and after a year I ask to go to Pune, hoping, a little brazen, I admit I was not very humble but Guruji was already ninety and there would not have been too much time .
I had the trip and the reservation for January 2015, after only six months of waiting. Guruji dies in August 2014.
Only those who are young can understand the sense of urgency that accompanies you in knowing that you have not had the opportunity to meet the great masters.
But I was there, after all. The first time in India, with my pune bottom, after a period of big separations.
I admit that I am a little proud of myself, of my determination that only yoga can ignite. 🔥
Your teachings have profoundly changed my life and my practice.
Thank you Guruji Iyengar eternally grateful 🙏🏼🌸 Today it's your birthday
Yoga allows you to rediscover a sense of wholeness in your life, where you do not feel like you are trying to fit broken pieces together ⭐️ So, You did.
