I’m such a proud mamma today! Walker decided he wanted to try some jumps on his skis (because he can jump at winter park on his bike) so we talked through it, I assured him that it’s okay to fall; EVERYONE falls and that’s how we get better. What defines our success is what we do after a fall, we get up and try again. He was scared but he went all in! It wasn’t perfect, but it got better and better.
Another proud moment: During lunch he noticed a group from the @thenscd
taking pictures and hanging out in the lodge. He asked why a particular woman had “robot arms and legs” and we encouraged him to approach her directly and ask those questions. Again, he was scared because he didn’t understand prosthetic limbs, but he approached the woman and several others and asked honest questions... he told them it was “scary” to see those, but in doing so, they helped eliminate his fear of seeing people who were “different.” It actually made me tear up because the curiosity was so genuine and the people whom he was talking to were absolutely delighted to have an open conversation. #parentingwin #parentingsuccess #proudmama #proudpapabear #nscd #prosthetics
