Fun day lifting and eating beef sandwiches in Baltimore with @andrewlawrencerockstroh . 3x5 at 270 for bench moved a little slower than desired but not too mad. Got some tips from Andrew for my crappy conventional deadlift. Worked up to some singles at 495 which moved okay but felt much harder than this one looked. When you're leaning and getting stronger at the same time 👌 - I've been tracking macros and calories and doing intermittent fasting. As far as calories go, averaging about 1900-2100 calories/day with an 8hr feeding window and 16hrs fasting. - Intermittent fasting isn't some magical fat loss formula. It's a tool to help control caloric intake. Instead of eating 4 or 5 small meals over 14-16hrs; I get to eat 2-3 larger, more satisfying meals over 8hrs. This helps me feel fuller over my feeding window and keeps me from overeating. - The biggest mistake people make with intermittent fasting is overeating in their feeding window. It doesn't matter how long you fast or how "clean" or "healthy" you eat. After taking a whole week off from dealing with the Flu... I’m Back ! ( kinda ) . . - Back Squat 5 x 3 @ RPE 7. Was able to get 228kgs|501lbs for my first two sets. Dropped to 220kgs|485lbs for my last 3. 3x5 @RPE 6. Worked at 190kgs|419lbs , last set at 180kgs|397. . After being bedridden with very little activity, besides a casual walk to use the toilet once in a while, pretty happy with the outcome of today’s training. HIP THRUST TIPS •• Some key considerations if you want to maximise your thrusts: 👉🏽 Choose an appropriate weight. 👉🏽 So long as the weight is safe and you can perform the exercise correctly, the ratio between load and soreness isn’t relative ie. you may feel the same burn at 60kg vs 100kg so don’t feel obliged to stop loading the bar. 👉🏽 Ensure to brace and keep abdominals tight before each rep. 👉🏽 Do not overarch your lower back - some degree of lumbar extension is okay to promote an anterior pelvic tilt at the bottom of the movement to maximise gluteal activation through range. 👉🏽 Tilt your pelvis underneath you as you thrust (posterior pelvic tilt), particularly at the top of the movement to ensure peak gluteal contraction. 👉🏽 Foot placement is key. Play around with your foot positioning whereby you feel activation predominantly in your glutes as opposed to your hamstrings (hams will always activate). 👉🏽 Think pushing knees forward as you thrust. 👉🏽 Do not make eye contact - most important tip 👀 •• Hope that helps!
