“Do something tonight, to help yourself out tomorrow.“ This quote from one of my favorite bloggers, Kate from @k8_smallthings
, has always stuck with me. What does it mean? It means before you go to bed, do one thing that will help future you out tomorrow. Fold a basket of laundry, empty the dishwasher, leave yourself a motivational quote on a post it note. Do what ever will make you happy tomorrow. Even though I’d love to say I’ve followed this advice every single night, I haven’t. But I do try. Especially on Sundays.
There’s something about starting a fresh week that I just love. Everything’s a clean slate. Nothing bad matters anymore from the week before. It’s a fresh start. There’s a lot of things you can do to help yourself out tonight for tomorrow. It can be big, it can be small. It can be physical or it can be emotional. So why am I posting this extremely raw and unflattering photo of dishes drying in my kitchen sink at 10pm?
Because that was my thing for tonight. I want to start off a good week. And something I know that helps me to feel motivated, is waking up to something clean. I’m tired. I have a headache. And the dog won’t stop having an allergy attack. But I repeated that quote to myself. And I decided to spend 15 minutes cleaning up the rest of the kitchen from dinner. And guess what? I feel better. So go do something tonight, to help yourself out tomorrow. -k.
