Old age can be lonely, especially when the aged is not cared for. I watched my mum and her sister take care of my grandma at the tail end of her life. My grandma will always say to them in Yoruba, "Omo a toju e (meaning your children will take care of you). That for me was a prayer of blessing.
God is speaking to someone out there who has failed to take care of his or her aged parents. No matter what they have done, forgive and play your role. There is a special blessing attached to caring for the aged. Make that call, pay a visit, buy some provisions and foodstuffs, send some money, send air time credit to your aged parents or guardian. Remember, your children are watching!
