I normally avoid all #spoilers
but considering the first book ends on a cliffhanger and I want to discuss book 2 as well I will break my own rule.
Johnny Be Good introduces us to Johnny who is a rockstar god and his PA Meg. Think of every cliché you can think of and Johnny is exactly that. But he manages to still be likeable. Meg easily gets caught up in his world and I did too. I breezed through this book. Meg frustrated me so very much though. Normally I really like the lead girls in Paige Toon novels but at times I wanted to shake Meg. We also meet Christian who is Johnny's best friend and biography writer. He and Meg get along well but *spoiler* I never saw how they were suited. I could see they were going to end up together but there wasn't enough of them for me to easily accept that at the end. Johnny doesn't either and makes a play for Meg and the epilogue shows her pregnant and unsure of who is the dad. I am glad I didn't need to wait for the sequel Baby Be Mine. I could dive straight into it as it was part of #curiosityclub
bundle for this month. We jump back in to Meg's life as her son is turning 1 and there is no denying now who her son looks like. This is effecting her relationship with Christian and eventually the truth comes out. Meg still frustrated me in this book but I did like her more. She owned her mistake but she gets caught back up in Johnny's world despite it not being an ideal situation for her son. For me the book was probably 50 pages too long - I wish Meg had stood her ground and gone about raising Barney alone. But of course she does end up with someone (I won't spoil) and is happy in the end.
Big thanks to Mel @mysteryboxbooks
for feeding my Paige Toon addiction 😂🙊. She really does go above and beyond to find books that suit her customers. My code BOOKNERD10 is still valid for new #thecuriosityclub
