After my cold completely wiped me out I'm back! Feeling much better after taking a few complete rest days out, something I'm not too used to to be honest. I did have a wobble and think maybe I should go wild and not exercise and eat my heart out for the last 2 weeks of 2017 as what's the point? But the point (I've decided) is why would I want to loose everything I've worked for this year in the last 2 weeks, especially if it makes me feel rubbish (physically and mentally). This time two years ago I was absolutely terrified of Christmas, because of the food. Being surrounded by and offered food almost all of the time and especially on Christmas Day made me panic because all I saw was calories - even vegetables were an unhealthy option to me, because they had calories. Every single calorie meant that 'I'd put on weight whether I exercised or not'. But instead of not eating at all, I'd convince myself that it was okay or come up with an 'excuse' to eat whatever I wanted but then overeat, stress about it afterwards, and the cycle would continue. This time last year I was halfway through getting over that fear - I'd still overeat occasionally but I was a whole lot less terrified in the first place. Instead I'd just hate myself whenever I ate too much. This year is different. I'm trying my absolute best to love my body, accept it, let go of needing to have control, I've stopped counting calories (because for me at least it puts my head straight back into self-hatred mode and being scared of food), I'm making whatever I feel like eating at Christmas and I've learnt how to listen to my body and know when it's full up. But if I do overeat, I know that that's okay too, that the feeling will pass and that I don't have to under-eat the next day to compensate for it. Now, I'm looking after my mind. And for me that just means listening to my body and caring for it in a way that I know is right - not excessively overeating, and not making myself under-eat or skip meals. And it feels so much better 💛✨

Apple & Cinnamon Bircher Muesli. | Last night I made a little batch of bircher muesli which I left to soak overnight. I juiced some apples and soaked the sprouted oats in the freshly juiced apples, plus some coconut yoghurt for added creaminess. I also grated in some extra apple, added some blueberries, almonds & finally lots of cinnamon 💛 I love cinnamon because it has a naturally sweet taste, but it's also very warming for winter. Not only do I love cinnamon for its flavour, but also its health benefits and here are a few: 1. This spice is a high source of antioxidants. 2. Cinnamon can curb sugar cravings. So, if it's the afternoon and you are craving sugar, a herbal cinnamon tea would do the trick as it's a naturally sweet spice. 3. It can help to benefit skin health, due to its anti-microbial compounds. Hope you have a beautiful Monday and add a little spice to your day 😉💫🙏🏼💛

HAPPY MONDAY PFF fam! To wish everyone an awesome wholesome week here's our vegan friendly Choco-cinna-nut protein oats; this recipe is awesome because it's really flexible depending on your macros and you can change up the milk/protein to preference. - They're a great varied protein source, amazingly easy to prepare and can be eaten straight out of the container! - 1/2 multi grain oats 1/2 scoop VG chocolate protein 1 cup cashew milk 1 tbsp black/white chia seeds 1 tbsp dark roasted peanut butter Sprinkle Cinnamon to taste Top with a ban-an-na - Simply put everything in a mason jar/Tupperware (make sure the lid is on tight) and SHAKE! Leave in the fridge overnight and there you have a high in fibre, healthy fats, high protein, low GI, anti sugar spike delicious ready-to-go brekky! The cinammon is excellent for regulating blood sugar levels all morning, you can use real or other variety of milk (if full fat use slightly more), use protein & PB of choice. Add/reduce oats/peanut butter/protein to macros if you wish.
