Today, I had the privilege of attending the final Barrel Run Tour of all the Chicago Brewing District's breweries with the awesome @thebarrelrun
providing the transportation. And I had an absolute blast doing it.
shenanigans began at @ontourbrewing
with a flight of all the hits from their latest album. Any of you that follow the Alderman know I think that Mark and On Tour Brewing are elite. Mark, your Christmas Ale is remarkable.
Next stop took us to this little known place - @gooseisland.
I've been to their Clybourn house many times, but this was my first visit to the Fulton St #taproom.
I loved their unique use of old staves throughout their taproom, and their Foudre wild ale was outstanding.
Then it was on to @gcbrewingco.
They don't do flights (which I do not agree with), but fortunately they still had their Oktoberfest on tap. A big stein of that deliciousness helps, but I was still disappointed I didn't have more time to try others because I had to catch the Barrel.
The final stop was at @allrisebrewing.
Unfortunately, we were turned away as there was apparently an "at capacity" concert at 4 o'clock in the afternoon despite the appearance of being half empty. Frankly, that's fine. The Alderman considers this place unelite. Their beer is unremarkable, their staff is pretentious and every visit feels like an inconvenience.
Despite the last stop, this was a fun day. They said today was the final Barrel Run, but hopefully that changes. This is a great concept.
Now the real discussion begins: #MaltRow
in a drink-off.
