Dinner with friends. Phase one. Ink on glass.
I made this with the intention of giving to a friend of mine, put it on show without expecting it to sell. Well it sold, so I'm remaking it. #remake#rinserepeat
I paint on white because I feel like painting background is sometimes a lie. I aim to strip away anything superfluous exposing the bare metal. I dont like when the background is for decoration. This might be because I am trained as a sculptor and I think in 3D. In 2D the background, the negative space builds the positive space, but not in my work. This is my old work from my very own collection.
TBT the "abstracted protrusions" sculptures I was making in 2006 with clay, flocking, and some serious hardware. I often miss working more sculpturally. I have a solo show coming up in March and am planning to spend the winter getting weird in the studio.
