Over the weekend we were convinced we were going out to eat for Easter brunch, but along the way we decided to cook instead. Each of us chipped in and cooked something, and we ended up with an incredible spread including freshly squeezed orange juice from our orange tree in our backyard. This meal allowed us to practice gratitude -- in realizing how incredibly lucky we were to be able to buy these ingredients in a store and cook something amazing for ourselves. A meal out can bring happiness to, of course 😋. But gratitude, appreciation and simply knowing exactly what went into your meal can be so rewarding. And I, for one, am so appreciative of my families commitment to healthy eating and having the resources to make that happen. 🙌💜

Hands down one of my favourite places to eat in Vancouver is @gloryjuiceco. Ugh, they just know how to do everything right. I always leave feeling satisfied and nourished. • Usually I can't resist their acai bowls but the other day I was craving something more vegetable based with something warm and more grounding. • This bowl was their warm and hearty bowl that consisted of squash soup, lentils, quinoa, kale, shredded beets and carrots, pumpkin seeds and I added avocado of course 💁🏼(because what is life without avo) • I also had the fermented beet and cabbage shot, digestive health for the win! • Let's talk about the cleansing benefits of Beets. Happy Sunday Peeps! Just gonna put this out there. If I am your coach especially your nutrition coach I am perfectly fine with not receiving any credit for your gainz. However, please do not lead people to believe that you got your results 100% on your own. Please don't give others others the false impression that you have the accurate knowledge that helped you achieved your goals and can also help them as well. The plans that experienced coaches design for each individual will not necessarily work for the next individual and shame on you the client for making others think it will. Nutrition is definitely a science and is responsible for over 80% of the results you will obtain not exercise. There are several macro calculators available online that will give give you a generalization of how many calories/macros you should be consuming. However, it requires a lot more science to really get accurate numbers and adjustments. For example if you are someone who under eats which many people tend to do, and and you use use a calculator that gives you an average range of where you should be and you suddenly make a huge increase in your calories/macros, the chances of you gaining fat is extremely high. In a situation like this, an experienced coach would implement different strategies like reverse dieting, etc... to ensure that your metabolism can keep up with the Increased calories. So with that that being said when you are inquiring about nutrition advice make sure that you ask the person specifically who designs their nutrition because chances are they did not do it themselves. I cannot stand when people deceive other people.

Until now, these have a well kept secret of the indigenous communities of the Cerrado region, deep in the heart of Brazil. They don't look or taste like the almonds we are familiar with. They are reminiscent of a peanut in shape and texture and very rich in flavour. Baru almonds are a superfood powerhouse...packed with omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, protein, potassium, vitamins A, C, E and Zinc (hello antioxidants!). They are also an excellent source of fiber, phosphorus and magnesium. Regular almonds don't hold a candle to these little gems.
