If you are planning to visit Bent Road winery you need to make a booking, and don't plan for a quick visit.... because you will get the whole experience here, and won't want to leave anytime soon!!! It is educational, interesting, entertaining... and that's before you even try the wine!
Glen Roberts the owner (with Andrew) and winemaker met us on arrival and was very welcoming and charismatic. He exudes a passion for what he does which is exciting, and we were quickly whisked away to check out where the magic of the winemaking process happens. Glen explains everything in a way we could all understand and made us feel like all our questions were valid. He is also really intelligent with a biochemistry background, so for me, I was loving learning about the chemistry of wine!!! We even got to go in his lab!!! The cellar door is in a historic Church which they relocated there. It is charming and comfortable and you feel very "VIP" sitting around the large table gazing out the church windows into the beautiful bush land. We started our exclusive wine tasting with the Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon 2016 Barrel Ferment, and this is one of the bottles I took home! Tropical on the nose, acidic and a balanced smooth finish- just delicious! I looked at the pricing and the average price for a white wine is $18!! AMAZING VALUE because the wine is exceptional. The other ladies loved the Verdelho, Tempranillo and I also took home a special bottle of 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.
