A few days into being back in #colombia,
i spent a memorable day at laguna #guatavita,
a couple of hours north of #bogotá.
This famous place is home to the legend of #Eldorado.
In earlier times, the soon to be leader of the indigenous tribe #Muisca
set of on a raft, covered in gold jewelry and gold dust, to jump into the lake, as a symbol of adoration towards the gods. When the Spaniards came later, they even tried to drain the lagoon, but never quite found what they were looking for, because the used gold was not pure enough and the efforts to drain the lagoon cost them way to much.
