Bahaha!! Oils had me at hello! I've been using tea tree and lavender since I was about 13 I think. I also used to steam my face over herbs and make my own scrubs and what not! It's funny how we can move away from things that are natural to us. I'm glad I found my way back. At dinner tonight my friends and I slathered ourselves and sniffed all the oils lol! #regram @lightandlotus
After a big two weeks of working full time it's back to my favourite reality. Slow Saturday mornings, market and veggie picking, countless cups of tea and endless cuddles with my two main people all made extra lovely by the rain. Ohh it's good to have days off! The ancient sages could observe that those animals that had the deepest breaths, where the ones that also lived longer. We can observe our own breath and see how its behavior is whenever we are calm and rested vs. when we are stressed or distressed. I love Pranayama, which are breathing techniques that helps us balance our breathing and become more conscious about it. Nadi Shodana is a Pranayama technique I try to practice everyday. It is alternate nostril breathing and helps us balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, ying and yang, feminine and masculine, active and resting state. This is how you practice it: Step 1🕉 Sit in a comfortable asana and make Mrigi Mudra. Beginning pranayama students may have some difficulty holding their raised arm in position for the length of the practice. You can put a bolster across your legs and use it to support your elbow. Step 2🔮 Gently close your right nostril with your thumb. Inhale through your left nostril, then close it with your ring-little fingers. Open and exhale slowly through the right nostril. Step 3🤸🏾‍♀️ Keep the right nostril open, inhale, then close it, and open and exhale slowly through the left. This is one cycle. Repeat 3 to 5 times, then release the hand mudra and go back to normal breathing.
