For this Thanksgiving, I wanted to do the opposite of what I normally do; eat food, and be comfortable. Instead I got up at 2am, night hiked an active volcano in Bali, up and down 5k ft, barefoot along the relentlessly jagged volcanic rock, got lost from my guide, group, and the trail, and shared my meal with a monkey, all before sunrise. For this, I am incredibly grateful to have this choice and opportunity with my health and circumstances. And I am grateful to experience sensations, such as pleasure and pain, reminding me I am a creature, so very alive... and the day isn’t over yet. So much more to be thankful for.
