Week 11 weigh in this morning... down 2.8 pounds from last week, which was a little off my goal of 3.2 pounds, so of course initially I felt defeated, but I also am insanely proud of myself. Had a pulled pork salad for lunch and an Oreo for dessert because if I don't have some sort of sugar everyday I'm literally crazier than I already am. At this point since I started the competition 11 weeks ago, I'm down 16.8 pounds. So a little update on my pup. They have severed a massive tumor in his belly near his bowels. Which is what has caused so many problems for him. We go back in three weeks for an ultrasound and hopefully a biopsy. But because I am a crazy person I plan on ensuring that I'm on some kind of cancellation list so that I can try to get him in sooner. It's really unfortunate that it took so long for them to discover this and I can only hope that it is something that he is not suffering from and that it can be fixed. But more importantly I just don't want him in any pain so I'm pretty sure that ice cream will make him feel better as well as make me feel better so that is definitely on the menu tonight. So, I feel pretty crappy. Most of you will look at this and think it is a meal plan when, in actuality, it is the food wasted from after meal planning. Not only is this a direct indicator that I have been undisciplined in eating my healthy, already paid for meals... but it also means I am trashing expensive, organic, quality cooked food that others would have been grateful to eat. I know first hand how difficult it can be to stick to "planned food." So, I am approaching my 13th week of Keto and once again will be trying a new experiment for the next couple of weeks. I am tweaking my Macros again. This time lowering my fat by 5 percent and increasing protein intake. I aim to get the protein percentage right rather than the grams amount as that's a little to high but I am using the free version of the MyFitnessPal App so can only go up and down in increments of 5 annoyingly. I've also switched to eating leaner meats, so instead of 20% fat mince beef I'm eating 12% instead for example. For a few weeks now I've also not been eating things high in saturated fats such as heavy cream. Still also attempting to eat more calories per day. So will stick to 1450 for now. So bottom left is 18 months ago and 11% BF.. Top left, right and bottom right are this year and 18% BF I have put on roughly 1 stone of size over the last 18 months, food and diet have been well off plan but enjoyable. My training was upped with less intense workouts and just heavy lifting. Now it's time to start to strip back that additional fat. One of my favorites quotes I wrote in my journal is "I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do" by brene brown. In order to be who we desire to be in the world and work so hard to become, we need to actively claim and own our story. I always hid my story cause I thought people would judge it. Judge what I did and how I acted. Thought they wouldn't understand. One of the many reasons why I started this instagram was to not only meet people who would have the same interests as me, but I just wanted to be understood. The more I got into this, the more my story has come out. And I realized that my story has not only helped, but inspired some people. I, now, embrace my story. I embraced the painful parts. I embrace my shame, my anger, my poor choices, my feelings of not feeling enough or loved. I embraced my past. It is easy to focus on what we did "wrong" or we obsess about one thing and think that defines us. When we step away from allowing the past to define our present or our future, it loses its power over us. Once you embrace your story, I promise you, the healing process will follow. So befriend your story and you shadows. We can't change what happened, we just have to move forward. It is the start of loving ALL of the chapters of your life like your hard work, accomplishments, and just tiny moments of laughter. The process of loving who you are is constant. Each day is a different day. I have forgiven myself and sharing my story has allowed me to accept how I am, what I did, and reminded my that I'm worth the effort. I've been looking forward to doing this ride for a while. I went over into the Peak District (hills) and managed nearly 5,000ft of ascent. The pinnacle is a 4.5 mile hill at 3% average. If I could only do 5 exercises for the rest of my life-a single leg hip hinge would be one of them. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € With this weighted variation we Hip hinge directly into a forward lunge but shortened to emphasize glute and hamstring recruitment and remove any over active quad or calf work. The goal here is to really isolate and "hold" the tension in your adductor Magnus and hamstring. Think sitting back into your hamstrings or closing a door with your butt. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € These variations are usually easier with weights believe it or not as they help act as a counter weight. So I do 10 each side weighted and then hop right into a set of 10 each side with just bodyweight.
If you're coming off an ankle injury like a sprain or just have weak ankles, here are some drills you can perform to improve stability. Doing them weighted is just an option. You can also perform single legged catch and release drills using a stability ball or medicine ball with a partner. Give them a try!

God bless you refeed days!!! We just started to incorporate these into our routine so it'll be trial and error to find the perfect macros for our refeed day/meal. This week we tried to up our carbs to what our fat usually is as we've seen in research this is what some have done. And we are trying a dirty refeed vs a clean because if we are gonna eat carbs they should be delicious ones!!! Today also starts our 30 day challenge.... 1. No scheduled rest days for lifting 2. 20 minutes of cardio at least 4x a week 3. No off meals except for our planned and tracked refeed meal each week 4. No weight/body scan/measurements until the end of the 30 days.
While catching up on stories this morning, @gomeagango shared how important a food scale is. She couldn't be more right on. Don't make your lives hard. If your results aren't what you want, maybe your serving size isn't what you actually think. I'm talking to you peanut butter and french fries. I'm restarting on this macros journey with a new set of numbers, because I've honestly really slacked since last summer. And if macros taught me anything, every damn gram counts!
