At the turn of 2017, in direct attempt at developing myself as a coach. I made a decision to pay more attention to the reasons why people FAIL at their health & fitness approaches as opposed to SUCCEEDING!
I DO NOT succeed with every client I work with. .
I willingly accept these failures. .
I feel I gain more from clients failures than I do their successes.
Do not get me wrong, it's a great motive for clients to have expectations. Unfortunately more often than not they're simply unrealistic, set too high and unattainable.
If you are size 16, you will not be a size 8 in twelve weeks.
You are a size 16 for a reason and mainly to do with poor behaviours and choices. Do not expect to change these AND your physique in twelve weeks....
Behaviours first, the body will follow!
Pull back the expectations, you'll be surprised!
- YOUR 'WHY?'
I do not know how many times I've been emailed, enquired to, privately messaged etc etc... after a have posted up progress pics from recent clients.
Too quickly the conversation goes from; "I seen the pics of 'x' "
to "I've got a (whatever)in 6 weeks, I want to look like 'x', can you do that?"(I'm sure coaches can relate).
After a brief discussion, I usually turn these people away. I feel their WHY'S are more 'external" based than 'internal'.
Normally I find clients that have an internal WHY - things that actually means something to them, not just a picture - they do best, they're most compliant and continue to succeed.
again.... process the words!
Failure happens because the reasons outlined above are not clear enough to you. They're not profound enough.
You are not willing to fully comply with the process because you feel you are not progressing like 'miss x' did.
You become unmotivated, enthusiasm sub sides, replaced by frustration and before you know it you're back to where you started. You go round in circles... with no clear intentions!
