Did a lot of research and watched a lot of YouTube videos (🀣) but didn't know that you had to have "bling" on your competition suit, so I showed up with one that had NONE on it πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ It was just a normal pink/purple suit. Plus... don't even get me started on the posing. I didn't have that extra eye to tell me or help me with those huge details that go into this lifestyle but what I was good at was putting on some muscle 😜& here I am 2.5 years later making IFBB Pro this year. No, that muscle didn't just happen - that was #consistancy is all I can tell you. You can accomplish a lot when you put in the work and I'm proud of the body AND mind I sculpted into good practices. 480 for 3 doubles. My biggest weakness with conventional deadlifts is that I do too much pulling and not enough pushing. The deadlift is both a push and a pull, and MOST weak deadlifters I see do way too much of one or the other. Because I pull more than I push, I am weak off the floor and strong at the lockout; it's not a balanced deadlift. I did my damnedest today to push through the floor as hard as possible from the start, firing my quads, and then pulling the bar into me and squeezing my glutes through the lockout. The result was a much, much smoother deadlift. It's not as snappy as I'd like it to be, but the smoothness and the bar path are πŸ’― right now, which is much more important. Today's #transformationtuesday goes out to SQUATS . - I've had some upper back/shoulder issues which made it hard to squat with the barbell and so I laid off barbell squats for a while. Austin has been coaching me and they have been feeling a lot better and even my range of motion has opened up quite a bit in both my shoulders and my hips . - I notice with a lot of clients who have poor mobility, just working on getting them stronger in the range of motion they DO have, leads to an increase in mobility/ROM. So if you can't go very deep in a squat right now or it feels awkward holding the bar on your back, keep practicing and work on getting stronger with what you CAN do now. You will see progress if you work at it πŸ‘ŠπŸ»
The magic happens when you slow it down! A lot of my clients will tell you I yell out keep it smooth through class/sessions, this is to encourage control and form.
