VADER'S MEDITATION CHAMBER
Darth Vader's meditation chamber was a life support pod that allowed him to survive for extended periods of time without his helmet and mask. Due to the injuries he got during his duel with Obi Wan on Mustafar, this was normally an impossible thing to do.
The chamber was three metres wide and was flattened on the bottom, designed to nestle in a hexagonal dais. It didn't have a proper hatch or a control panel, but had to two horizontal seams which allowed the device to part into two hemispheres.
About five years after the foundation of the Galactic Empire, Vader ordered a mobile meditation chamber to be transferred onto Tarkin's Carrion Spike from an imperical star destroyer, for their mission to Murkhana. During the manoeuvre of the chamber, it collided briefly with the edge of the ship's cargo hold hatch. As a result, Darth Vader grew angry at Sergeant Crest, the one controlling the repulsorlift crane. When the Carrion Spike was stolen by Berch Teller's rebel cell on Murkhana, Vader used the meditation chamber as a homing beacon to track and locate the rebels, despite the Corvette's stealth system. Tarkin and Vader pursued the ship to the Galidraan system, but unfortunately the chamber was jettisoned.
Vader acquired a new meditation chamber which he kept on his flagship, the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Executor. Just prior to the Battle of Hoth, Vader was using the chamber when he learnt that Admiral Kendal Ozzel had emerged from lightspeed too close to Hoth, alerting the Alliance's Echo Base. Consequently, Vader force choked Ozzel to death for his incompetence while sitting on the open chamber. Captain Firmus Piett was then appointed as the new Admiral. Later on, Piett would enter before Vader finished putting on his mask, and informed him that the Millennium Falcon had just entered an asteroid field.
