In the midst of the anguish and sorrow she remembered the letter he told her about
The letter she currently held in her hands. A heavy weight. A burden against her soul
With his mother smiling tears of joy and his sisters celebrating sorrow with rice and roses, she sat alone engulfed by darkness
She promised him that she wouldn't open the letter until the soil of his freshly dug grave dried
Today was the third night she sat alone
The third night she has showered his grave with petals
She looked out the window into the pitch black sky
Reminded of the letter she couldn't bare to open for it smelled like him
But at the same time, she had to know.
She was careful, wanting to preserve it, her final memory of him
'بِسْم رب زينب (ع)
In the name of the Lord of Zaynab (ع),
Habibati, my beloved. My darling and my entire soul. If you are reading this letter than I pray that my wish has been attained. That the promise of my last breath belonging to her (ع) has been fulfilled.
Why are you crying oh love? Please, wipe away those tears and celebrate! For we have gained this world and the next inshallah.
Hayati, I may be gone, but your battle remains. To stand strong in the face of the enemy. To represent her by choosing her chador. By reminding everyone that she will never be silenced. Protect her, just as I did. Fight for your freedom just as she. And if you die trying, know you have died free. & if a day comes where you're missing me, just turn towards Shaam and send salams to her (ع) for me.
I have one more request, my habibati, when you visit Abbas tell him I too gave my arms for the daughter of Ali (ع).
& in all else, remember, beauty.
May we be reunited in the next world my love.
With all my heart,
With shaky hands she tried to stop the rushing rivers from her eyes
She placed her palm out facing the sky
And bought her hand down to her stomach, her final gift from her beloved husband
