I've been receiving requests to share #bulletproofcoffee
recipe as well as talk about my experience with it and it's benefits. It's considered to be a high-performance drink that has a massive impact on your energy and cognitive function.
I have been taking it for the last two weeks almost every day in the morning instead of my regular latte and sometimes instead of breakfast. The benefits of replacing breakfast with it:
✅ Suppressed hunger. Brain Octane Oil balances ghrelin and CCK, your hunger hormones, keeping you full until lunch. I felt hunger around 11am, but I wake up at 5:30am and have 45 min HIIT class every day at 6am.
✅ Steady lasting energy. The saturated fat in grass-fed butter slows the absorption of caffeine, which gives you even energy for several hours instead of a caffeine spike and crash.
✅ Mental clarity (this is the most important for me). Brain Octane rapidly converts to ketones. Paired with the slowly releasing caffeine and you can literally feel your brain turning on.
All in all bulletproof coffee is an ideal companion of #ketodiet
and a quality fuel powerhouse for body and mind. I'm a fan! 👍
Here is how to make it (scroll photos and videos to see the steps):
1️⃣ Make your coffee. I use espresso machine, but you can also use coffee brewing machine or a French press. It's preferred to use original Bulletproof coffee beans because they are mold-free and super high quality. Before I got them I used single origin beans from Jewel. I noticed that Bulletproof beans give much more foam (see on the photo) which talks about their freshness.
2️⃣ Add Brain Octane Oil (it's tasteless and flavorless). Start with 1 teaspoon and build to 2 tablespoons (it’s powerful and at first can upset your stomach). If you don't have Brain Octane oil you can substitute with MCT oil or worse case Coconut Oil, but ketogenic effect is not the same plus it feels too oily and coconutty (I personally can't take it).
3️⃣ Add 1-2 tablespoons grass-fed unsalted butter or ghee.
4️⃣ Blend. Mix it all in a blender for 20-30 seconds until it looks like a creamy latte. Stirring with the spoon will not work.
