Just Breath Protocol
Before we go in and do some advanced breath work, I wanted to start with “just breathing”. In the video I explain a lot about the unconscious/autonomic systems of the body and how they are connected to breath and the conscious system.
Our unconsciousness wants us to thrive, it has our best intentions in mind. In order for us to maintain a healthy body capable of healing itself, and expanding itself we sometimes need to let our control go on the body.
If we are living a less than optimal life, our breathing may be effected. We will alter our breath to match the circumstances we perceive in our environment. Now-a-days we aren’t being chased by dinosaurs, but we are in similar stressful scenarios. Us being at a job we absolutely hate can give us the same anxiety, and cause us to alter our breathing.
When we change our breath, every other system in the body gets altered. So if you signal with your breath that you are stressed, everything else gets stressed. The thing with today though, is that those dinosaurs don’t go away. You have to visit them 9-5, 5 days a week. And that is a lot of altered breathing.
There is a way to allow all of your systems to reset. And we have a bridge through our breath. So if everything is tensed up, we can consciously release the tension in our breath by just allowing it to do it’s thing.
For the exercise, lay down, or sit in a relaxed seated position (no tense spines). And observe your breath, without the slightest amount of control. Watch your body inhale. Notice the pause at the top, and then your body will automatically exhale, and again, notice the pause at the bottom before your body automatically inhales again.
When you let your body do what it is wants, it will return you to a state where you are capable of thriving. It will heal itself when it needs to, it will perform exactly as it should.
