"Some say that I should trade up now that I got some jangle in my pocket//But what they don't understand, is it's the miles that make the man; I wouldn't trade this thing in for a rocket" --Dierks Bentley, "I Hold On"
A week ago tonight I finally said goodbye to my beloved Blazey. According to the owner's manual I found in the glovebox, today would also be his 21st anniversary--delivered to his original owner in 1996 with precisely 20 miles on the odometer. My Blazey was not just a truck to me, but a part of my family. He was my father's before he was mine, & I can still recall goofing around in the back as a kid. Later, my dad & I would discuss politics & current events as we drove, furthering my interest in government. I went away to college & when I came back in need of something to drive, that rusty old truck became my own. We drove all around this state together as I worked at the capitol downtown & then on several hard-fought political campaigns. This month, the miles & the years finally caught up to him. With over 286,000 miles, my baby nearly tripled the mileage warranty & made it 3.5x as many years as expected. You've more than earned your retirement, Blazey, but I'll still miss you just the same. Some might say you were just a truck, but you were so much more. And I will never forget who--and what--has helped carry me through this life #Truck #TruckGirl #TruckSelfie #Chevy #ChevyBlazer #Blazer #MyBaby #Goodbye #Love #Memories #LongPost #Lyrics #CountryLyrics
