This is so beautifully written. The famous song by Katy Perry comes to mind whenever I see or hear anything said like this, and it's always bothered me a little. I've never believed what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, because of everything that's said in this quote by Jax Teller. I've just never known exactly what really does make us stronger.
I recall my mother and all the pain and endurance she labored through. In a way, I think it made her stronger, but I honestly believe that it was all the love and support she received from her family and close friends that made her stronger, as well as the obvious- God.
Now that my brother is going through a mysterious illness, he's the weakest he's ever been. He has our mother's temperament, and is always determined and strong through everything, but this illness has him down. It's made him physically and mentally weak and vulnerable in a way I've never seen before.
I believe the biggest problem lies in the fact that he has barely any support group. He has his wife, his kids, who are only able to do just so much, me and maybe a couple other people that are "there" for him, but...
To me, this proves that those who are in our lives make a huge difference. When people are facing huge trials and suffering, the amount of love and support they receive is going to make them stronger or weaker. Don't get me wrong- those of us that are there for my brother, are THERE for him. That's what keeps him as strong as he is for now, and again, the obvious- God. But he loses hope a little more each passing week, I think.
Could you say a prayer for him today? And if you are someone that knows him, could you find a way to reach out to him somehow? He could use a smile or two today from someone new. #prayers #familymakesusstrong #godisgood #friendsandfamily #godknows #bestrong #lovemyfamily
