#flexibilitybasics day 12!!!! Sorry for my late post! Had to work late last night and I'm really trying not to get the sickness that's been going around! 😨😨😨 Today's pose is Wheel pose or Chakrasana! My first picture is a variation! Swipe to see more variations and normal wheel pose! Start laying on your back and bend your legs, bringing your feet as close to your sitting bones as you can get them. Place your hands palm down right above your shoulders with your fingers pointing towards your feet. You can even tuck your fingers a bit under your shoulders if you'd like. Simultaneously push into your palms and soles of your feet, engaging your arms and legs to push your body off the ground to get a nice back arch. Try to bring your shoulders over your hands. Pretend like you have a block (or use a real block) between your knees, keep them squeezing in towards each other. Breathe in this pose. Variations: with a flat foot or you can come up onto your toes, lift one leg to the sky bent and try to straighten it out if you want a super flexy stretch. Do the other leg to even things out. If you're back is already decently flexible, you can lower down one arm at a time to your forearms! If you still feel comfortable, try scooting your feet back towards your hands. :) Check in with @libernans for more! Day 11 of #flexibilitybasics is a #bridgepose or #setubandhasarvangasana So, I decided to go shoot shotguns this passed Sunday. It was the first time I've ever shot a shotgun and I did, surprisingly, very well! Went through about 50 rounds. What nobody told me before I did this was I would be sore the next day! To my surprise I woke up Monday morning a little sore, but by Tuesday I could barely move my left arm. (The one I was holding the gun up with) needless to say, I should probably start lifting more weights. This pose felt so good on my arms and shoulders! I definitely needed this stretch! Day 12 #flexibilitybasics | wheel pose. this pose really makes me emotional, it's like before you do it you are one version of yourself and after, it all changes. We keep our hearts closed all day working at computers, driving, slouching- so I find myself with a few tears of relief when I do this one. I don't know if it's tapping into my own mortality or what, but I feel it so hard. To enter: start in bridge, take hands and bring them overhead, point your fingers away from you. Inhale - press down through feet, exhale push your head and chest off the ground. Hot tips πŸ”₯: GET WARM - no joke. I rarely do cold wheels because they are so damn intense. Go move around, Vinyasa, do a ton of shoulder opens (puppy, dolphin, bridge). If you're looking to modify, prop two blocks against the wall, place your hands on them, and practice pushing your chest to the wall. Go slow! Video coming soon I promise. Day 11 of #flexibilitybasics is #bridgepose aka #setubandhasarvangasana. Bridges are a common exercise that i have my patients do, especially for those who lead sedentary lifestyles. When we sit for long periods of time we create tightness in hip flexors as well as weakness in low back and glute muscles.. this pose is a great way to counteract that because it's basically the opposite position. A balance in flexibility and strength is essential to joint health.
