Making sleep a priority...
You may be aware of my worst health habit - lack of sleep.
I have never had problems sleeping, I just never prioritised it.
I thought I was above needing sleep and to be honest, I can function on very little and have done so for most of my adult life. (But did I function optimally?).
All the research says that I am wrong.
I have read extensively on this topic and I now realise that to live my best and longest life (and also look my best), then adequate sleep is a necessity for rest, repair and rejuvenation - especially as I age.
So, I have commenced seriously trying to create better sleep habits.
Overall, I am improving and I do have to admit, I'm feeling much better and if I am consistent, then I wake up looking much better as well (bonus!).
(If you saw my story yesterday, then that wasn't one of those days - not enough sleep...).
I still have a way to go to ever achieve a regular 8 hrs a night but I am working on it.
One thing that has been a challenge, is the approx 2-3hrs less time I have in my waking hours.
That's 14-21 hrs a week!
And, that's a bit of an issue when your goal is to train for a full ironman in between other responsibilities.
Finding time to train has been hard.
But, I am gradually readjusting my life and priorities - as always, it's a work in progress!.
