It ain't been a red letter week for #movie
watching on #netflix
FINALLY saw #sylvesterstallone
the top - a film I feel like I should have grown up watching. 80s Stallone, arm wrestling, truckers all to a over blown #rock
soundtrack? Damn right but oh no. It sucks. The sons annoying as hell, Stallone looks genuinely sleepy throughout, is it about arm wrestling cause there ain't a whole load of it plus the all the characters have the weirdest relationships with each other.
Went in open minded to #fantastic4
despite the reviews. But they were true, it's a baffling film. It takes place almost exclusively in a laboratory under ground giving it an oppressive 'Day of the Dead' quality and their transformation is handled with body horror terror, then at the end it looses its nerve and tries to be a generic action film. It's just odd.
Big fan of John Hillcoat's work but #triple9
feels like a wasted opportunity. One of the few films where it would have been worth being an hour longer. There's too many characters and plot threads to for anyone to be compelling. Certain characters start off as main then become secondary. Seeming support roles become pivitol. There was a #heat
style masterpiece in here but it doesn't come together. Plus there's a real unsavoury violent streak to it.
