“Back in the 40's, the best way to meet someone was to go to a dance. Well, being a dancer I went to some of them. I never went alone, always with a girlfriend. 💃
One day I received a card from Northwestern University that it was sponsoring a dance. I asked my friend Jenny if she would be interested in going to it. Jenny was 5'9" tall. I was 5' and a "quarter" inch tall. While the two of us were standing together waiting to be asked to dance, for whatever reason, I felt a little uncomfortable with the "Mutt and Jeff" situation. I suggested we find a place to sit down. 💁♀️
There were some empty chairs where a group of girls were sitting and we went to join them.
Meanwhile, as I was to find out, Sidney and two of his friends decided to go to the same dance. However, one of his friends could not attend and told Sidney to find a nice little girl for him because he was also short. 🤷♂️
Sidney and his friend were standing facing the dance floor. I was seated behind them with the other gals. I happened to look up and see Sidney turn around and look at me. He then approached me and asked me to dance with him. 🙋♂️
As it turned out Sidney had 10 left feet and they were all over my toes. Ouch. Despite that fact I found that I was enjoying myself. I found out that he had a nice sense of humor, and we were both having a good time. 🕺💃
Anyway, when Sidney took me home he wanted my telephone number. We met on a Sunday and he called on a Wednesday to tell me he just happened to have two tickets on Saturday for the circus which was in town. This was our first date. ❤️
After that we spoke on the phone several times a week and dated every Saturday night. After knowing each other for only two months Sidney proposed to me. He gave me an engagement ring and four months later we were married. And we lived happily ever after. We had 68 good years together.” Thank you for sharing Grandma Shirley!!! ❤️ TAG a friend who would love this 😍🤗 #truelove #grandfamily #grandparents
