The yellow truck. That is "la mequeca". For those who were asking about, I'll tell the story. My dad had an old camioneta (Spanish for truck) like that, and he kept it for about 30 years. When I was learning my first words, I just started naming it "mequeca". And soon after everybody in the family called it that way. For us it was our space rocket. Farms, rivers, hundreds of roads... I couldn't think of another name for our shop. Words in baby language to name a project dedicated to kids. To honour my father, a truly creative person. Because we miss him to the moon and back.
But the story wouldn't be completed without telling about Mom. She taught me crochetting when I was 8, and I still can remember those firts two lessons. Plus the whole universe she taught me about. Knitter, best cook ever, great seller, hairdresser, mother, granny. Nobody told stories better than her.
Childhood memories always have them both starring. So, La Mequeca has two angels now. Feeling so grateful over here... #family #lamequeca #familystories #country #crochet #crocheteveryday #makers #southflorida #handmadeshop #handmadeusa
