Can I get real for a second??
Pretty pictures of beautiful people doing fabulous things in amazingly gorgeous places...Pain and suffering IS NOT the fun stylish way of Instagram. (I'm sure I'll get more Amens on FB😂) Yet affliction IS the way of our very normal lives. We can't escape it. Sooner or later, we find the not so great parts of life. And then what?
Can I get real real?? I was the one who turned her head from realities like child abuse, human trafficking, and all things Middle East. I turned my nose up at racism, poverty, obesity, and the unpretty. And I felt useless and speechless when faced with cancer, disability, and unexpected tragedy. Am I the only one?
Then I kept living and seeing and experiencing life and I just can't get away from these things. And more importantly, I can't get away from myself...all the ugliness that wants to take up space in my heart and mind. Life is not a box of chocolates; sometimes you get plain 'ol sticks and stones.
But here's the hope for me(and you):
When we see with eyes of hope, we can see the unseen, beyond the now-realities. #eyesofhope
see the rest of the story.
"This slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." 2 Corinthians 4:17
Because Jesus changed everything, you and I have hope. This slight momentary affliction loses its power over us!! "Incurable" just lost its power. "Never gonna change" just became the biggest lie. "Hopeless" just found the Ultimate Hope! Maybe my today still looks a lot like yesterday, but my future is destined to be brighter.
BUT this only happens through Christ Jesus. If you or I try to muster up good vibes on our own, it won't last long. Only when Jesus gets involved, only when Jesus is invited to participate, that's when the old is made new. Let affliction become a tool in the Master's Hand! Better days ARE ahead. And that's the truly fun stuff to celebrate!!! .
