As a former competitive athlete this hit me. I think I struggled with what I would do, once I decided to stop powerlifting, and because of that I spent a lot of idle time trying to figure that out, and not changing my diet. On top of leaving the sport, I fell in love, found my happy, and the studio I was teaching group fitness classes at closed down. So more eating out, less discipline, and cardio gone. I put on 40 of the 60lbs I gained in the last 15 months. That's a lot of weight in a short period of time. .
As my life has changed I've come to the realization that I don't need a goal, I don't need a comp, a new PR, or to make people see me as that athlete anymore. I want to be Aunt Kaitlyn. I want to be a good GF and cook well balanced tasty meals. I want to spend time with my family. I want to do things I enjoy *cough* reading *cough*. And I want to be healthy for me. For me and my future. .
I may not be the person you show your friends to anymore, but I am happy. And I am NOT doing this for you. I'm doing this to live a long healthy life. .
