I started out as the kid who never touched legs. Thought they were a waste of time and no one cared about what you squatted, it was "how much do you bench man?" I used to quarter squat badly, hell probably a 1/8 squat at times. I would think I was a lot stronger than I really was at the time. Now I squat all the time. It's become apart of me more than any other lift I do in the gym. Since I've started truly squatting and taking it serious the past year or so I've seen the most mental gain I ever have. I've become mentally tougher and stronger with bigger and better goals set forth. Squatting has taught me a lot but the most important lessons are patience, toughness and consistency. I encourage everyone to squat, not everyday but just squat. Practice technique and hit depth. Forget about the weight and just get better. The weight will come and with great form it'll come a lot faster. There's a lot more to lifting than trying to look good and be strong. Those things are great to chase after, but it teaches you the value of hard work. Squatting especially will teach you to trust yourself bc once that weight is on your back you really have 2 choices come up with the weight or fail. I've failed a lot in the squat rack but each failure bred success that came with patience and hard work. I apply those things to my daily life and I've been able to tell a huge difference just in the person I'm becoming and the direction I'm headed. So if you're able to squat do it. Get better and stay patient. Take it serious and really try to get better. The lessons you'll learn under the bar pay huge dividends in life. I've already seen big changes and differences in my life one way or another and I trust with more patience and consistency bigger and better things will happen. I've still got a long, long road ahead of me to get better and truly be successful.
