Manila was a great week with ONE Championship but I had a bitter pill to swallow as I saw an emotional Ev Ting, walk out of the octagon with tears almost filling his eyes.
He was disappointed, understandably, @evting
ET trained hard -- what a hell of a match it was – but victory wasn’t on his side.
His family was there, and throughout the match, I heard a little boy scream, “Go Uncle Ev. You can do it!”
You can see how much this match meant for him, as a fighter, and for his family.
At the press conference that night, I could only remain silent as Ev answered a few questions and despite defeat this Auckland MMA fighter, showed courage, strength, and manners of a true champion. “Man, you Filipinos should be really proud of your champion, much respect."
It was a night of mixed emotions, 25-minutes of 5 rounds, Pacquaio in the crowd, a packed arena – a perfect description of a fight night.
His emotions showed after the fight shows how much of effort, training, courage and strength he put and has in store.
I’ve been there when you defeated Edward Kelly, Carry Bullos, Honorio Banario, Eric Kelly, Rob Lisita and I truly believe you will be a champion real soon.
