Studio desk scene: a corner of the @gettoworkbook planner, a little sliver of a sketch book, a pile of tools and a lot of carving scraps. Pretty much sums up my life right now. ((Not pictured: my sanity hanging by a thread/the fully filled planner/the overflowing email inbox)). I am so grateful this is my life, though I would not turn down a free office manager... #studioscenes #linocut #wip #womenentrepreneurs #thisisthelife #greenvilleartist #yeahthatgreenville

It's official. With my brither's family reaching Alaska, the Humphries clan are now as far away from each other as we've ever been. Some literally on opposite sides of the globe. (Not sure what that says about our family.) It's been a year. One of big changes and most of them are only just beginning. So here's to seeing what comes next.
I was working today with classical music playing and the windows open when a sudden wave of inspiration hit me out of nowhere. I turned off the computer and pulled out a canvas, brushes and paint. Twenty minutes later, this tiny landscape was born. It's nothing fancy, but it speaks to me. It reminds me that creativity doesn't have to be elaborate, expensive or time-consuming. Sometimes it's sudden and simple. And that's beautiful. 💛 "Downpour" 6x6 oil on canvas.
These cuties are finally listed in my shop!
Drawing, like any art, is so personal. When I put pen to paper, or henna to skin, my feelings are put on display. It really shows in my work if I'm tired or frustrated or not slowing down enough to take my time with each line, dot, and curve. I like to take my time, and treat each design like a meditation. Anybody else feel the same way?
I have always liked ink and learned briefly Chinese calligraphy but never put enough time to practice properly. Started last August, I picked up my brushstroke and started to draw again, as I really want to use my time more properly in a meaningful way. Hence I started small, and work on one piece each weekend to grow my craft and eyes. Slowly I have accumulated over 60 pieces and establish my collection. I get inspiration from many places such as nature, Pinterest, events, music and readings. And I intensively draw during weekend and some work takes a few weekends to finish, once it's done, I feel super accomplished. #carveouttimeforart #cotfa #ArtistTakeoverCOTFA
Whenever she turned her steep focus to me, I felt the warmth that flowers must feel when they bloom through the snow, under the first concentrated rays of the sun.
Working on some smaller works for up coming market stalls and I’m feelin the beachy deep sea vibes. “Hand me the white please!” 🌊🌊🌊
